Founder's Point("we," "us," or "our") built Examen as a daily reflection and journaling app rooted in Ignatian spirituality (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and how your journal entries are protected.
Information We Collect
Examen is designed with your privacy and the sanctity of your reflections as a priority:
- Journal entries. Your daily reflections and journal entries are stored privately using Apple CloudKit, which syncs data across your personal Apple devices via your iCloud account. Journal entries are associated with your iCloud account and are not accessible to us or any third party.
- No separate accounts. The App does not require you to create a separate account. CloudKit authentication is handled entirely through your Apple ID.
- No analytics or advertising. The App does not include third-party analytics SDKs, advertising trackers, or behavioral monitoring tools.
- Local preferences. Settings such as notification schedules and display preferences are stored locally on your device.
How We Use Your Information
We do not access, read, analyze, or share your journal entries. CloudKit stores your data in your private iCloud container, which only you can access. We use no personal data for marketing, advertising, or profiling purposes.
Apple CloudKit and Data Sync
Examen uses Apple CloudKit to sync your journal entries across your Apple devices. Key points about CloudKit:
- Your data is stored in your private CloudKit database, which is tied to your Apple ID and encrypted by Apple.
- We, as the developer, cannot read or access your private CloudKit data.
- Data sync is governed by Apple's iCloud Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
For more information, review Apple's Privacy Policy.
Third-Party Services
The App does not share your data with any third parties. No advertising networks, analytics providers, or data brokers receive information from the App. The only third-party service involved is Apple CloudKit for data sync, as described above.
Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Journal entries stored via CloudKit are protected under the user's own Apple ID. If you believe a child under 13 is using the App without appropriate parental consent, please contact us at hello@thefounderspoint.com.
Data Security
Your journal data is protected by Apple's CloudKit encryption, your device's security measures (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID), and iCloud's end-to-end encryption for eligible data types. We do not operate separate servers that store your personal content.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your journal entries persist in your private iCloud container as long as you choose to keep them. You can delete individual entries within the App at any time. Uninstalling the App and removing data from iCloud will permanently delete your journal entries.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
