About the Consecration
The 33-Day Marian Consecration is a spiritual preparation developed by St. Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort (1673–1716) in his classic work “True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.” It is one of the most beloved and widely practiced Marian devotions in the Catholic Church.
The consecration involves 33 days of prayer, meditation, and self-examination divided into phases: renouncing the spirit of the world, growing in self-knowledge, deepening knowledge of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and growing in knowledge of Jesus Christ. At the end, the faithful make a solemn act of total consecration to Jesus through Mary.
St. Louis de Montfort taught that Mary is the surest, easiest, shortest, and most perfect way to approach Jesus. By entrusting everything to her — our prayers, merits, virtues, and satisfactions — we allow her to purify our offerings and present them to her Son.
